Tennis, who doesn’t know this sport and has never played it. Although tennis has lost popularity over the years, the sport is still played by over 87 million people today.
Of course, it is not the easiest or cheapest sport to play. It takes some technique to hit a nice ball. Perhaps that is why sports like padel, pickleball, and others are gaining popularity because they are more accessible than tennis. However, these sports are still in the shadow of tennis.
Tennis used to be considered a sport for the elite, but that is no longer the case today. Tennis is practiced by people from all walks of life. Also, the sport is played by both young and old.
When you want to start playing tennis, it is advisable to take tennis lessons. You can do this in groups or with private lessons. These lessons ensure that you master the basics of tennis. This, of course, greatly increases your enjoyment of the game, and you will make greater strides in your level of play.
When you are just starting out you don’t need more than a racket and a pair of shoes. This doesn’t have to be the most expensive racket, start with a cheaper one to find out if the sport is for you.
When you are more advanced and understand more about the different rackets, you can buy a more expensive and better racket.
In addition to your tennis lessons, try to play a lot of tennis with others. Join a tennis club, here you will meet plenty of other players. At every club there are members of all different levels, so also your level.
Playing with others allows you to put into practice what you learn in the lessons. And the more often you play, the faster you will progress.
Another benefit of being a member of a tennis club is the social aspect of the sport. Many clubs organize different activities, both with and without tennis. Many friendships are therefore made within these clubs.
It is also recommended to participate in the tournaments organized by the clubs. You will then be assigned to your own level, and play a number of matches. By doing this you also learn to play matches that matter, although, of course, it is all friendly.
Yet this is how you learn to deal with competition tension, something you cannot learn in any other way. This will only benefit you as a player.
If you like competition and enjoy playing games, you can start participating in the various leagues. Again, this is by playing level and can be done in both singles and doubles. You usually form a team with other members of your club and compete against teams from other clubs.
By going through all these steps you will develop well as a tennis player. But the most important thing is to have fun with the sport.
